From December 10th to 11th we took part in the 4th German Fall Protection Congress at the Grand Elysée Hotel in Hamburg.

From December 10th to 11th we took part in the 4th German Fall Protection Congress at the Grand Elysée Hotel in Hamburg.

Working safely at high-altitude workplaces is a central concern of our industry, since falls from low heights can have serious consequences or can even be fatal.

That is why the German professional association for the construction industry (BG Bau), together with companies, associations and manufacturers, has set itself the goal at the 4th German Congress for Fall Protection to make high-altitude workplaces safer through consistent planning and effective aids.

The two-day lecture program of the 4th German Congress for Fall Protection was primarily aimed at planners, building contractors, tradesmen and facility managers and thus focused on a holistic view of the topic. The event was a technical highlight for everyone involved in the subject of fall safety and this year again brought together a wide range of experts.

"Crashes are the most common cause of fatal accidents at work in the construction industry," explains Prof. Dr. Marco Einhaus, head of the building construction department at BG Bau at the congress opening. Between 2009 and 2018, a total of 871 fatal work accidents were registered in Germany - over 35 percent of them occurred as a result of a crash.

Terrifying: two thirds of all fatal crashes occur from a height of less than five meters. "The topic of falling has to be considered right from the start - already in the planning and construction phase. Here, as well as in the operation of the building, fall safety plays a crucial role in ensuring safe and healthy working for all involved," said Einhaus.

4th German Congress for Fall Safety

At the 4th German Congress for Fall Safety, the topic was intensively explained and practical solutions for occupational safety were presented in lectures and discussions. Furthermore, information was provided about the planning and execution of fall protection and the work of rescue at heights.

In addition, it was shown what to consider when using personal protective equipment and how to convince employees. We also took the opportunity to bring our latest products and services that contribute to increased security closer to the visitors of the congress at our booth. Our photos show you a few impressions of the two days of fall protection.
