Extension package BIA-SET-01 for AIO lifeline system

An undetected lightning strike can weaken the load capacity of lifeline systems for fall protection by up to 50% - the consequence: danger to life! Use of the BIA- SET developed together with the Oö. Blitzschutzgesellschaft m.b.H. company allows damage to the AIO SEILSYSTEM PASSABLE system to be recognised, and necessary repairs to be instigated immediately. Oö. Blitzschutzgesellschaft m.b.H. examines the lightning detectors to identify the lightning strike. This is possible at any time, i.e. permanently. The fall protection system can thus be maintained in optimum condition, and so it can be used without risking the illusion of safety. In addition, if the lifeline system is earthed, it can simultaneously function as a component of the lightning protection system - thus avoiding additional effort in terms of costs and installation, as well as potential visual disadvantages. For the AIO LIFELINE SYSTEM PASSABLE to be classifi ed as a BIA system, the BIA-SET-01 is a basic prerequisite. This can be fi tted to newly installed as well as existing lifeline systems. As per lightning protection standard EN62305-3, the use of the BIA-SET converts the AIO LIFELINE SYSTEM PASSABLE into a fall protection system with lightning detection.

Cost and space savings
Because the fall protection system is lightning-protected, it does not require separate protection. Lightning rods on the roof are unnecessary, and there is no additional roof loading.

Protection from the illusion of safety
The integrated lightning detectors mean that any lightning strikes and their strengths can be assessed subsequently. This makes it clear whether an additional inspection of the lifeline system is necessary.

Simple to handle
The BIA-SET-01 contains two lightning detectors which have to be mounted on the system. Two further detectors are provided to replace those installed initially and sent for assessment using the prepaid return envelope provided.
